He will be back

For Hungarian version click here.

Many people think the concept of the American Dream is mellowed for re-definition but as long as fixed star like Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms the original meaning of the idea would early to bury that. Especially when the pop cultural icons branded by him are stronger than ever.

If for someone is not clear what means the national ethos of the Americans rather worth to browse the abridged walk of life of our hero than to read lexicons in the library.
Arnold Alois Schwarzengger was born on the day of 30th of July in 1947 in Thal a small village in Styria, Austria. He was 13 when gripped first time a dumbbell - and the dumbbell gripped him. His enthusiasm and talent are showed by his achievements because for 1980 he already has won seven times Mr. Olympia and six times a Mr. Universe titles and made his first marks in Hollywood as well. The role of Conan, the barbarian get him the great breakthrough in the world of movies at 1982 and since than he rose up to the most well-paid and most wanted circle of actors. After acting as Conan he played remarkable in many action blockbusters. He was a good Terminator, a bad Terminator, annihilated a Predator alone, investigated successfully as a soviet policeman in the USA, saved the mutants in Mars and for sure muscles have never heaved yet before on the canvas than the opening scene in Commando when he sloped with a tree trunk(!) on his shoulder.
OK even he wasn’t enough to beat Batman but at least he show himself as a flesh and blood bad guy. What as some people think he continued in the new episode of his career as a republican governor of California aka the Governator. After his eight year long reign in 2011 he dropped his political career and as it seems he will come back to the screen.
Like it or not the effect of Arnold is huge. He is capable of making a buzz alone in Hollywood for millions of fans. What proved by the fact that at his comeback the characters vivified by him are still actual – just as he promised (“I’ll be back”). This year will be presented a Conan, the barbarian and a Total Recall remake and the new Terminator, new Predator and the new Running Man projects are in pre-production phase.
The big question marks are around the alter egos of Schwarzenegger. Are they able to live up to expectations or not. Colin Farell who will act Quid in Total Recall already showed his skills many times so the focus is rather on Jason Momoa the new Conan. Momoa is not so an actor as our hero but he was promising as a barbarian king in Game of Thrones - however as Conan the standards are much more higher especially his moderate physical presence than Arnold. So there are many-many question marks what hopefully turns to be exclamation marks and not dots after dots after the premier.

The plurality and ambition of our Governator didn’t change by the political environment. He twitted about his comeback as a main role of a true drama titled Cry Macho. The countdown has begun! Hasta la vista, Governator!

No Cannes do!

As some of you might know Judit Kun and I took part in the Young Lions competition in Hungary. Here you can read what we did.
First round
The brief to the first round: promote an exceptionally quiet lawnmower in a 30 sec TVC. We came up with two spots. The first spot dealt with the pros and cons of being a quiet lawnmower. Imagine, when you're a cute quiet lawnmower it must be very hard to make friends, but on the other hand, chicks will dig you because you are a great listener.

The second spot was a hack of the young lions website in Hungary. We showed the screen of the original website for a couple of seconds, when suddenly our lawnmower guy comes in and starts mowing down everything in his way, including the lion. After the first round only 9 out of 45 teams were selected for the 2nd round.
Round 2
Seeing our films to the first round were pretty bad ass , we felt the only thing that was going to impress and win this mother was to come up with ideas and movies that would leave no room for doubt. Up to this moment I'm still convinced we had all the right ingredients to succeed. Great ideas as well as execution. Hey, as Muhammed Ali said: "it's hard to be humble when you're the greatest".

The brief this time was to promote an Extreme Sport Insurance, details could be filled in freely. Again we came up with two ideas. The first one: ZOOM, about a man (played by Daniel Nolan) who is talking to his wife on the phone sitting at his desk. "Of course I'm at my desk, I promised didn't I?" When suddenly the camera zooms out and we see that he's actually sitting on the top of a snowy mountain ready to ski down. The pack shot stating "We expect what your wife doesn't."

Pretty cool right? Just wait until you hear the second one. Instead of making any other empty, recycled or gimmick based add, we actually made a spot that could really make a difference. The idea: a whole new product, The A-meter, a bracelet that measures your heartbeat and calculates your insurance costs based upon the irregularities in your pulse. Basically when you're not going extreme you don't pay extreme. Never the less the judges didn't seem to agree with our greatness, stating the spot would fit the digital category better and is not a TVC. Decide for yourself.
The Cannes Young Lions festival will be held next month. Check out the team representing Hungary here.

Let's rock this mother!

After the initial success the film "Napoleon Dynamite" had in 2004, it seems Napoleon will be back once again to rock this mother with a brand new animation series on

FOX. Good news is that they're bringing back the entire original cast, as well as the original director (Jared Hess) and producer. The animation will be done by Rough Draft Studios that previously worked on The Simpsons and Futurama. Judging from the trailer it looks and feels the same as the flippin original.

What the flip?

Actually Napoleon Dynamite started of as a short film finished in 2003 by director Jared Hess called "Peluca". This 9 min. short deals with one day in the life of Seth, the biggest, baddest super nerd (also played by Jon Heder) in the metropolis of Preston Idaho. The events and style brought forward in "Peluca" stayed more or less the same when making "Napoleon Dynamite". Never the less there are some differences, budgetwise ("Peluca" was made for just 500 $), black and white vs. color, different characters etc. But overall if you liked the quirky humor and atmosphere of "Napoleon Dynamite" I can definitely recommend taking a look at "Peluca" as well.

Does the chicken have large talons?

Looking around the internet it seems a lot of people are having serious doubts about the relevance of bringing back Napoleon, claiming it's seven years too late, or FOX ran out of ideas and is hoping for another weird hit show like Family Guy. Gosh!!! Some people... I think the movie, characters and themes lend themselves perfectly to the animated world especially since they all ready look so out of this world and cartoon-like in the first place. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it will work out in the end, what do you think? According to the Fox site the 6 episode series is supposed to air midseason 2012. Don't know when it will come to Hungary though.
